The Echo Chamber

With the power of visual communication, we are joining forces with prominent photography museum Fotografiska Stockholm to focus on new innovative ways to accelerate the development of inclusive societies. Through the exhibition “The Echo Chamber”, by photographer Erik Johansson, different scenarios illustrate how shifts in our own perception of the world can open up paths to a brighter future.

Inspirational stories can help change the way of thinking about what is possible, and the world has probably never needed inspiration more than now to be able to push for the change that is so important for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Further, the power of perception can be a key enabler in reducing poverty, improving education and fighting inequality, but also in creating innovation, jobs and economic growth. Things that seem true and universal are often just our unique perception of the world.

We teamed up with Fotografiska Stockhom and also added a knowledge partner, Planethon, to focus on new innovative ways to accelerate the development of inclusive societies by exploring the power of perception change. The Echo Chamber, by photographer Erik Johansson, is the result. It’s an immersive exhibition experience where different scenarios illustrate how shifts in our own perception of the world can open up paths to a brighter future.

Perception change interventions are also key elements within our programs. For example, we are challenging deep rooted stereotypes around women and tech – supporting our ambition to get women garment workers equipped for a future defined by digitalization. And as we are pushing the industry towards inclusive circularity, we aim to change mindsets around informal waste pickers, highlighting their importance in a circular economy.

The exhibition The Echo Chamber will be on display at Fotografiska Stockholm between September 22, 2023 – January 14, 2024.

Our origin, gender, ethnicity, family, finances, housing situation, circle of friends, professional role, etc. form the thin surface that filters our perspectives.
The echo chamber describes the phenomenon that occurs when opinions are reinforced because a group of like-minded people share information and thoughts only with each other.
Imagine what happens when we find ways to step outside the social constructions that constrain us, when we can see beyond the filters and walls that separate me from you and us from them.
